Our five year adventure in Doha, Qatar ended June 1, 2012, but the memories will always remain. It's back to Texas where I have decided...Qatar isn't cornering the market on "quirky", as I once believed. Thanks for opening my eyes to the world, Doha!

And 2009 Begins

Can you believe I finished up 2008 with NO WORDS! Unbelievable, I know. We got a late start and before we knew it, it was time to prepare for our New Year's celebration at our friends' home in a neighboring villa. We started out with a power lunch at Oper'a. I think Dustin had enough antioxidants and beta carotene for all of us. After lunch we headed for Villagio Mall and took a gondola ride. We've lived here for a year and a half and hadn't taken advantage of their Venice like canal running through the mall. We dropped by The Hip Hop Shop, but the boys opted out since the waste sizes started at 38". After that we headed back to the villa to get ready to ring in the new year. The New Year's gathering consisted of Thai fare that was absolutely delicious. David, Dustin, Kayla, Ryan and myself had our fill of the spicy food prepared by our Pink Villas expert resident Thai chef, Natthawan (and helpers). Natthawan and her husband, Austin (Port Neches-Groves Class of 1974...Go Indians!) were our gracious hosts who know how to throw a party. Cook Thai food and they will come. That's just the left over food in the picture. Unbelievably, we made it till midnight to toast 2009, which is pretty hard for us old folk. It showed this morning when Kristi came in the bedroom to inform us it was 11:15am.
